Club VBS Returns to the Rainforest!

Club VBS 2013 will be returning to the rainforest with Club VBS® Jungle Jaunt®! Pack your bags and get ready for an exciting, adventurous journey through the Amazon Rainforest. Travel through the Amazon region along narrow rainforest trails, over roaring rapids, and through dense woodlands as you lead kids to experience and respond to the One True God!

The Scripture passage for the week is Psalm 145:1-2 and the motto is “Praise Him! Trust Him! Follow Him! The One True God!”

During Club VBS, kids will learn that God is One Amazing Creator, One Miraculous Provider, One Powerful Healer, One Living Savior, One Lord of All!

Club VBS can be another option for your VBS, however we are hearing TONS of great reports about how Club VBS is great for backyard Bible clubs, mission trips, camps, and for filling that weekly summer program slot for kids! How do you use Club VBS? We’d LOVE to know!

Out of This World Decorating

I know there are a lot of you out there who are getting ready to launch Club VBS: SpaceQuest as your summer VBS experience. While SpaceQuest may not have as many ready-made decorations available as Amazing Wonders Aviation, there are some incredible things you can do to transform your space and give your kids an “out of this world” experience! So if you’re looking for some stellar (or should I say “interstellar”) decorating ideas, then you’ve come to the right place. Check out these cute decorating ideas.

Kids will be ready to blast off when they get to have their picture made in this cute rocket ship!

Here’s a cute shuttle made out of cardboard.

Use metallic fabrics and gift bags to add just a hint of the theme to any Bible-learning activity. Check out the cute star-shaped tree topper!

I love the use of hanging stars and the backlit stars along the ceiling.

Darkening the room with black paper or fabric is a good substitute for turning off the lights in the room to get the feel of the black void of space.

Want more ideas? How about these quick & easy tricks…

  • Drape white, blinking Christmas lights around the doorway or hang them from the ceiling.
  • Line the hallway with rope lights leading to the room. Cut out large numbers from construction paper and arrange them down the hall moving from 10 to 1. Tape them to the wall or place them on the floor, covered with clear contact paper. Kids will enjoy counting down to “lift off” as they come and go from their room.
  • Paint various sizes of Styrofoam balls to resemble planets and hang them from the ceiling using fishing line.
  • Create a focal area on one wall using cardboard. Paint it to look like the inside of a shuttle’s cockpit. Punch Christmas lights through from the backside and attach Slinkys or dryer vent hose to the front for a 3-D “space age” look.

Club VBS – Answering Your Questions

Many of you are preparing for an out-of-this-world VBS experience with Club VBS SpaceQuest! Space was a theme many of you requested on our surveys last year. We were so excited that we were able to offer a fun theme that focused on Jesus and His mission to be the Savior of the world.

Recently I saw a couple of customer questions asking where Club VBS Snacks and Crafts suggestions could be found. You’ll love this answer! Both Snacks and Crafts are two of the reproducible sections found in The Administrative Guide in the Club VBS 2012 Starter Kit. Not only will you find preparation and planning helps in The Administrative Guide, but you will also find a section for recreation, crafts, snacks, and Babies-2s.

A ton of resources are also available online at www.lifeway.com/clubvbs ! You can find photos of the crafts, photos of the snacks, and Club VBS 2012 SpaceQuest Drama Scripts.

2012 Club VBS: SpaceQuest!

Hey guys!  I’m thrilled to be bringing you a little bit of fun info about this year’s club VBS, SpaceQuest!  I think space is AWESOME, and I’m excited to see what you guys are coming up with to help bring the whole theme together this year.

If you aren’t familiar with this year’s theme, it’s based on John 14:6 (HCSB), “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  Kids will have a galaxy full of fun as they learn all about Jesus’ mission for them.

One of the things I love about Club VBS is the flexibility of the material– not only does it work in a traditional VBS setting, but you could also use it over Spring Break, Fall Break, or even for a midweek gathering!  The material provides a two-hour schedule for five days, or one-hour schedule for ten days!  You could even use SpaceQuest as your material for a fun day camp.

Like the main VBS theme, there are Bible study, craft, and recreation/snack rotations.  During the two-hour daily SpaceQuest plan, kids will attend Worship Rally and travel to three rotation sites.

Flexibility is key here; the materials are usable with any Bible translation, and mission stories are available on the Web as a free download.

So what are we learning about this year as part of SpaceQuest?  Well, that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

Preschoolers will learn that they can thank God for Jesus, show love to Jesus and others, remember what Jesus did, learn that Jesus showed God’s love for all people, and tell others about Jesus.  (Life Application, Days 1-5)

Older children will learn they can celebrate and worship Jesus, give their best to Jesus, choose to do what God wants them to do, accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, and tell others about Jesus!  (Life Application, Days 1-5)

The best part?  You can find everything you need to get started on your space journey right here!  And isn’t the art super cute?

Is your church using SpaceQuest this year?  Tell us how you’re utilizing the materials and share some of your planning and decorating tips with others who may need some help!

Foto Friday. . .Clip Art Central!

I’ve been checking over the number of views on our VBS blog and it’s been fun seeing what you have been viewing and what seems to be the popular subjects. Theme reveal or anything involving 2013′s theme seems to be popular.

The clip art blogs seem to be very popular! So I thought I would create this blog to become a “one-stop” location for the clip art. Below you find links to all the clip art blogs I have created for VBS 2012, Amazing Wonders Aviation. I hope this helps!
